Griffith Film School at the Queensland College of Art, already Australia’s largest film school, counts Cannes Film Festival among its growing list of accolades.

Griffith Film School had a graduate film, and its film makers, invited into the world class market place of the Cannes Film Festival in its short film corner. This is a major achievement.

The school continues to gather accolades for its world class facilities and degree courses which in turn continues to produce highly sought credentialed and skilled graduates.

Currently the newly opened Dolby Stereo Cinema will be fully converted into a film mixing facility.

There is no existing facility of this kind in Queensland, and it is a unique opportunity to work closely with high-level specialists in the industry.

The Film Mixing Studio becomes a key asset available to enhance the post-graduate courses such as a course work Master of Art in Screen Production, now with the possibility of majoring in Music and Sound for the Screen.

Further graduate success has been gained by the first cohort of Games Design graduates who have won national recognition.

This is an amazing feat in itself, and an incredibly high success rate given the Bachelor of Game Design only started three years ago.

Griffith Film School Head Professor Herman Van Eyken said it was the programming and complex design training that sets this degree apart.

“Our focus on building highly technical and competent artists is proving to be one of the defining characteristics for graduates of the degree,” Professor Van Eyken said.

“At Freeplay 2010 we won Best Design in a Game for the game Up Down Ready.

“The same game won second place in Kongregate’s Android mobile contest.

“Then at the 48 hour Game Making Challenge we won the Indie Team Overall Prize and the Audio prize for Little Dinos’ Big Adventure.”

The successes and world-class facilities make the graduate and post-graduate offerings at Griffith Film School a world leader and a first rate contemporary establishment led by the top people in their respective fields. (src: griffith.edu.au)
